Malevolence are New Zealand’s longest standing Death/Grind band. With hundreds of shows across Aotearoa and beyond
Formed in 1992, Malevolence has hit the road with bands such as
American Legends-Brutal Truth & DRI, Swedish Leviathans-Dismember,
Grind Gods-Napalm Death, Primate & Lock Up, Finland’s Impaled
Nazerene, Australia’s Blood Duster, Misery & Atomizer, Austria’s
Pungent Stench, and Midnight from the USA, as well many local acts.
The band has also appeared at numerous underground festivals such as
Ōtautahi's Satanfest, Te Whanganui-a-Tara's Punkfest, Capital Punishment,
Scumfest, Hellington666 & Barbarianism, Ahuriri's NDMF Death Metal Festival, and Tāmaki Makaurau's Audience with the Devil, Mammoth Metalfest, Fangefest & Battles in the North.
Releases started in 1993 and 1994 with demo tapes, progressing to the
first CD, "Almost Like Something Completely Sinister" in 1998. A string
of releases followed including Windows 666 (2004), Eyes To See Ears To
Hear Wrists To Slit (2006), Split CD 'Grinding Aotearoa' with Backyard
Burial (2008) and full length Relentless Entropy (2014) as well as
numerous compilations. 2019's 'Unending Death' is a brutal statement of intent!
In early 2025 long-serving bass player Julz decided to hang up his bass and Malevolence reemerged as a brutal bass-driven force of destruction. 2026 will see a new DIY release of selected tracks from the live set in the new format along with new songs. Go forth and destroy....
